Thesis

The first thing that stood out to me was that your thesis changes with every draft that you write. Every time I write a draft I have a hard time thinking of a good thesis and change it about 20 times. I also noticed how it said the thesis needed to be specific. If it is not specific then it is not going to service its purpose and is just another sentence.

Love is a battle field

The video called “Love is a Battlefield” stood out to me the most. The message that is sending is very strong. It is about prostitution and being on your own. I feel like this video also had the strongest message. But the “Girls Just want to Have Fun” video applies more to our life as teenagers. My video “Don’t Let Me Get Me” by Pink is all about teenage years. Many girls in high school don’t know who they are or who they want to be. A lot of girls are lost all through out high school. And, girls in high school often don’t like themselves and feel like they need to change. This video goes over all these things while “she” is in high school. I didn’t think these videos helped me with reading my video. They weren’t the same type of video so I didn’t think of it the same as I did my video. 

TV vs MTV

I don’t watch TV that often but when I do I normally watch Sports Center. A lot of the commercials appeal to men. The commercials they play are normally deodorant commercials or commercials about “manly” jeans. There really isn’t anything interesting about this show. It just goes over all of the things that happened during the day in the sports world. 

Befriending Barbie

I liked this essay about Barbie. I had no idea that she has “had” over 80 “careers”. This essay brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. While I was reading I was thinking about all the Barbie’s I had when I was younger. I think the most important part of the story is the reason why people collect these Barbie’s. They all had one specific reason. This essay will help me write because I had some ones perspective that doesn’t collect Barbie and really didn’t like Barbie.

The last stop

When most people think about a funeral home they think of a sad, boring and drab place. I thinkn of black dresses and tears. In The Last Stop, Cable describes it as a homey place. He talks about the furniture and the magazines on the coffee tables. He describes the mortition as a talkative person. He was surprised by the clock. When I think of a funeral home I think time stands steal when you are there. So the clock shows that a funeral home is just like any other business.

My clothes

Clothes tell a lot about a person, but they can also be deceiving. I know when I look at some people I judge them by the clothes they are wearing. I feel my clothes are deceiving. I wear T shirts and shorts a lot. Some people see this as laid back and some people may see this as being lazy. I am a very laid back kind of person. I just go with the flow. 

Death of a Moth

In Virginia Woolf’s “Death of a Moth” she is describing a small portion of time that changed her perspective.   This story makes me think she is writing about how she feels inside. She is sitting at her desk and sees a moth inside trying to get out.  She may feel like she catches people’s attention but is trapped by her shyness.  I believe she is trying to express her feeling through the moth.  The moth is trying so hard to get out of this window that it dies.  Maybe she is trying so hard to get out of her comfort zone that she feels that it is killing her.  As a writer after reading this I feel like I need to be more descriptive while I write, try to get every detail I can think of.
