Power Stripe

""Given the fact that this deodorant features a 'power stripe,' why are her gloves and the truck important.

The theme for this commercial is women's strength and independence. Most women have delicate or dainty hands. If the commercial portrayed this, the strong factor would be taken away. Since they have given her gloves to wear it covers her dainty hands, and the gloves make her look more rough. The gloves give her "man-ish" look.
In an everyday setting how many women do you see driving trucks? Not too many, and if they do the truck certainly is not a semi. This truck gives her power, which puts in place the "power strip." This truck makes her seem like she can conquer anything a man can.

Thesis

One thing you do not realize is that your paper, based on your thesis could be completely repetitive. This is a fact that stood out to me the most. I feel that is one of my biggest issue sometimes with writing is repetitiveness. It stood out to me because, this is something that could easily be overlooked in a paper. Sometimes I read my paper thinking I have a main point and a paper explaining it, but sometimes I am saying the same thing over and over. Another issue is having a multi- thesis paper. My so-called thesis might be a few weak statements, instead of one strong statement  \wraping up the whole paper.

Videos

"Girls just want to have fun" played out how I thought it should in the video. The video portrayed a young girl letting lose and being a rebel. The story makes sense. "Love is a Battlefield" on the other hand was harder to understand. Benatar stood out to me the most. When the video first starts you seem to think the song might represent the feelings between Benatar and her parents. As the video goes on you realize that the video is showed a scarier side to her freedom.
Benatar's video by far was the strongest. Women in this video are empowered, and they stand together for protection. "Love is Battlefield" is portraying the mistreatment of women. All of the men in this video tend to be pretty old which makes the story even more creepy.
My video is Walk this Way" by Aerosmith and Run DMC. "Walk this Way" is a major step with racial  seperation. The combining of these two musical geniuses  baffled millions of listeners. This song also was a turning point in musical television. Once this video was released music channels began to play a wider variety of music. The two previous videos help me to notice the finer details with the video I have chosen.

TV vs MTV

Just last night I was watching Sex in the City. During this show most commercial were gear toward women. There were commercials for feminine products, deodorant, and commercials for stores. After watching two episodes I realized that not a single commercial was for the male gender.
I think that many aspects that appear in a regular tv show also appear in music videos. Music videos have to appeal to certain audiences also. Videos are like shorts tv shows with setting, characters, and even a plot.

Barbie

I always remember pulling out a huge blue tub when I wanted to play with my barbies. The tub was massive; it was full of clothes, shoes, and even my dolls. I could definitely be classified as a "de-boxer". One thing that I did not know about Barbie is that, today, they went for so much money. The amounts described in the story were outrageous. Barbie was my favorite toy when I was not outside playing. I had so much Barbie stuff, but I was also one of those little girls that chopped all of their hair off when I grew out of my Barbie dolls. This essay showed me that you might be surprised at what you can find. That you should always be willing to try new things, and that you should always stay open minded. My favorite part of the story was that there were even men at the convention; that, to me, was really surprising. The most important part to me was when the writer got their own Barbie, and they were pretty excited about it.

The Last Stop

Everyone has their own opinion of what a funeral home should be and what it should look like. What Cable describes is the complete opposite of what my idea is. It seemed cozy and comfortable. A funeral home is somewhere that you wouldn't always want to visit. This is apparent as the home director explains the prices and all of the payments and things of that nature.
This piece is creepy in its own way.
