1983

I thought the most interesting thing about the article was the empowerment of women during this time. I think the second video "love is a battlefield" had the strongest message. It really shows the girls can stand up on there own and do not need the support of others. My video is Empty Walls by Serj Tankien it is a fast paced rock song that initially talks about the knocking down of the twin towers and then later goes on to tell the story of the Iraq war from the prospective of an Iraqi citizen. The video did not really help me with my music vedio all that much. With my video if you could not see the video and you just heard the words it would be hard to understand the message where as with the two videos from the blog the message in each is very clear and clean cut.

MTV Vs. TV

One show in particular that I watch very often is Sports Center on ESPN. When watching this i noticed that almost every commercial has masculine qualities. Examples of commercials that run often during sports centers would be Degree deodorant, many different types of beer commercials, and Old Spice. All of these are geared towards a male audience.  I think that company buying time slots for there commercials during Sports Center assume that it will be mostly a male audience so they try and make their commercials as many as they can.

barbie

Before reading this essay i knew that young girls liked barbie and collected the dolls but I had no idea what a large following barbie had. Another thing that shocked me was the vast number of barbies that there are i would not think there would be that many models. I find peoples' obsession with barbie that are over the age of seven to be a little creepy.
