After reading this article, I thought differently
on the word "thesis". In high school, I was taught that the word
thesis was just a simple, main idea that each body paragraph was based off of.
Thesis is not only the main idea, but it goes into more depth. A thesis is
not only based on reflecting back to the beginning, middle, and end but it represents
the paper as a whole. The thesis is
based on the information given, and it helps the author expand on the idea each
time. The last paper assignment over the music video, I clearly understood what
a thesis meant in more formal essays. The thesis is a straightforward thought
throughout the whole essay and each paragraph must relate back to it. A strong
thesis, which is used with class assignments, could be questioned depending on
the reader’s points of views.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was so interesting to me because the article matched perfectly with the music video. In the video, the teenager portrayed a life that all girls just have fun and they do not have to do any hard work. It shows fancy jewelry, outfits, and hair-dos with glamorous looking teenagers acting carefree. The video sends a message to viewers that girls just want to have fun and not have to do any of the "norm" ideas involved with women like household chores or cooking dinner. My video is "Where Is The Love?" by Black Eyed Peas and I believe that they are sending out a message of common beliefs happening in our society today. They are asking why there is discrimination when we all live in one world together. They are also spreading the love because this song went worldwide and topped over ten charts in 2003.

TV vs MTV
I don't normally watch television, but I catch up on shows on Hulu. My favorite show at the moment is "How I Met Your Mother". I paid close attention to the commercials and the text the show is sending out to viewers. Most commercials were about new cars, new movies, or new make-up. The show is targeted at young adults just out of college because the setting of the show is in New York City. The cast of the show is always sitting at the same pub in every single episode. The show is upbeat and comical and does not really have a set story line other than the main character Ted Mosbey explaining to his kids the stories leading up to how he met their mother. The commercials were interesting because it related to the certain types of audience that would be interested in the show. I think TV vs MTV relate to each other because both are entertainment targeted at a certain audience while sending some sort of message. "How I Met Your Mother" is completely entertainment, comical, goofy, and upbeat.

Befriending Barbie
As I read through this story, I got about halfway and finally realized this story was from someone who did something they have never done before. I never knew that there were so many barbie collectors out there and that there was a convention every year for barbie collectors. I played with barbies when I was younger, and I never thought they were still a big deal. I still feel like barbies are the fun doll that all types of people enjoy.I think the most important part would have to be this person going out into the world and doing something they have never done before. They learned about barbies, types of people who collect barbies, and so many more new interesting facts. The narrator definitely did a great job explaining how this event changed their perspective on like and it gave me an idea of different things I can go out and experience for myself.

"The Last Stop"
As Cable was going into the funeral home as a first year college student, he was not really sure what to expect of it. As he walked up to the funeral home, he described different characteristics about the building that got his nerves up. He made the inside of the home feel gloomy, cold, and uncomfortable while he waited in the reception room. During the trip through the funeral home, he realized that he shared different beliefs about death, embalming process and other things than the funeral director. As the tour went on, he changed his perspective a bit. He realized that death is a beautiful thing. The casket allows the family to feel safe about their loved one. At the end of the experience, he realized that society should talk about death and celebrate it because it is an uncontrollable aspect of life.
Cable’s feelings toward the funeral home definitely changed during the tour and it gave him a new perspective on life. Cable expressed a perfect example of a funeral home from the cold, gloomy settings to the embalmment room. He made the experience seem terrible from the beginning and ended up having a new outlook on life and death.

When I first started typing this blog, I made a huge long list of things I believe I am. The number one quality of mine that really stands out would be caring. I care about everyone, even random people on the streets. Sometimes I care too much and it comes back around and haunts me. I am always there for my friends at any time. I love to help kids in need and I was a mentor at my old elementary school during high school. I cared about these kids so much I took time from my busy schedule to help them with homework, make crafts or just play on the play ground
I also care about having leadership qualities. I care so much about the yearbook that I decided to take the role of yearbook editor for two years in high school. I care about my fellow classmates and strived to help them be successful in class. I care about my family and always make time in my busy day to call and catch up every single day. I am not sure if clothing shows the type of personality I have, but I sure do show it and wear my emotions on my sleeve. I constantly stay in contact with the people I care about either through facebook, twitter, texting, or phone calls. I care about the world around me and hope to make a difference.
