Random Blog Title

While reading this I notice something about people that is silly.  Why do we fear death so much?  It is the one thing in life that you know is going to happen, so why fear it?  Our entire life we obsess about avoid it at all costs because we don't understand it.  But isn't that the point of death?  We have never and will never fully be able to comprehend its meaning so we let ourselves obsess about it.  The one thing we do not know is what happens after.  Some believe in heaven, some believe in nothing, some believe that we are even reborn into another body.  None of these things sound like reasons to fear it.  It is only another adventure.

But onto the story.  I find the writers preconceptions about the mortuary very "hollywoodish".  The pale skinned boss, the creepy essence of the entire place, and from what he says about the actual experience he seems to change his mind.  He actually finds the funeral home quite pleasant.  But there was no reason for me to care about his trip to the mortuary.  I was bored and saw no purpose to his writing at all expect to turn it in for a grade.   Isn’t that why we are doing all of this work anyway? And to those who say that they got to learn about the inner workings of a mortuary, well why does that even matter to you?  You wont even remember the one time you are a part of the process.

Reading this essay makes me worried about our paper coming up.  It seems like we will only write a paper because we have to.  Not one of us will actually say anything meaningful or change the way someone thinks.  But that really isn't the point of this writing is it?  It is to describe something you have never done before that puts you out of your comfort zone.  I can do that... I'm just struggling to see the point behind it.  Maybe the point is to watch yourself be put out of your comfort zone and analyze that.  The times that we can learn most about ourselves is the time that we are forced to not be ourselves.  But if that was the point of the essay then why wouldn’t it be clear?  Is the point of the essay to figure out that just putting yourself out of your comfort zone and analyzing yourself and therefore understand more about yourself through that experience?  Well, now it is starting to make sense.
