My television stays on ESPN almost 24 hours a day. So the last show I remember watching was, of course, Sportscenter. Some of the commercials I remember running are beers commercials and commercials about sports merchandise. This leads me to believe that producers assume either athletes, or tail-gate/bar oriented people watch Sportscenter.
I also noticed that Sportscenter seems to be structured as a time oriented show. For example, there is a clock at the top of the screen that is always visible, and the whole left side of the screen is occupied by a list of what events they will be covering next. I also noticed the bar that runs across the bottom allows time pressed people to catch sports updates quickly. Another thing that I noticed was it appeals more to men. Very few women are seen, and the ones that are, are very very attractive. I guess to help hold men's attention longer.
The article helped me to see that you have to pay attention to the fine details that usual seem natural. It also helped me to see that you need to ask "why" about everything that you see. It can greatly help you to analyze a video.
