1983

What struck me as the most interesting is in Lauper’s song, there are the frame transitions and the parts where it was not a filmed part but the animated bubbly part. The whole song is about her doing what she wants and have fun, and to them those animated parts were supposed to represent being different than the typical housewife by making an atypical music video with random animations. Her video also had the stronger message to me. The video matched the lyrics better helping me connect video to meaning.

My video is Words I Never Said by Lupe Fiasco and Lupe is showing that we are regressing in what the two videos represented. They were about a feminist movement to not be stereotyped as housewives. They are trying to be different. Lupe is showing that no one has opinions anymore and that the world is just accepting whatever the news tells us without being different. He is trying open everyone up to being an individual with their own thoughts and opinions on real world matters. Also, I feel that the bus is significant because a bus can represent so many things. He is trying to start a movement, similar to Rosa Parks, who started her movement on a bus. In addition, riding a bus represents the average citizen, middle class with a job in an urban area. He wants everyone to open up so a public area would be a good place to start.

All the article did is make me realize I needed to look deeper into my video for points I know I am missing.
