In the music video "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cindi Lauper the topic of womens rights and the idea of the modern women is discussed.
Women always say that 'chilvary is dead'. Well that is true, sometime after World War Two men stopped treating women like princesses. This made them question who they were, are, and are becoming. So decades later after men stopped being polite, heroes who swept women off their feet, women started questioning what it meant to be a woman in general.
Yes I believe that women should have just as many rights as men, there is no question about that, but if men treated women the way that they deserve and should be treated then we would never have had a problem. In "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Lauper says that women want to go out and be crazy and have a good time, the article suggests that "fun" even means rights and liberties to do and be whoever they want to be; this is completely correct, women deserve each and every ability that men have. But there are fundamental differences in men and women that we can not just be blind to. Naturally men have more testosterone, which makes them want to go play outside and run around, and naturally women have more estrogen which makes them more emotional and caring. These are differences that can't just be tucked into a closet and ignored. Instead we should be celebrating that each and every one of us is different, and that, that is how it is supposed to be. We were not created the same, so why try and act as if we are? That would be ignorant, just be you, and don't worry about what other people say or do about it.
My video is 'Fake Plastic Trees' by Radiohead. This video is an extremely heavy one that carries a lot of emotion and meaning. It takes on ideas that are just as simple as 'who am i?' to ideas as complex as 'what is society and where is it going?'. It will be a trial of my analyzation skill as well as my writing skill. I am looking foward to it.
